Learning Opportunities

This are learning opportunities. I sort them based on the ratio between the benefit and cost. I think people should chew up the one with high benefit to cost ratio first than the one that is more expensive. It will also help poorer friends and stingy businessman with lots of time which one to eat first.

Free opportunity has a very high ratio because the cost is 0. Actually it is not 0 if you think about the cost of your time. The richer and busier you are, the more you will look at benefit rather than money cost.

So, use this formula to see which one you like:

Here, SIB is should I attend. B is benefit. MC is money cost. TC is the time cost. And S is your salary.

A poor person will love free seminars while the rich one will aim for higher B and shorter TC. This is a great place to start. I personally do not think TC is a bad thing because often benefits increase as a function of TC. Some significant part of the TC is what you should have done anyway in your business. I prefer playing cashflow 101 for 6 hour and chat a lot about it to playing it for 3 hour and need to rush. A busy consultant like Herman will prefer different thing. So, please match this with your interest. I respect your money, so I usually listed all this starting with the lowest money cost.

On exceptional case such as when I think the benefit is great or the offer is much better than the market price I raise the rank of a more expensive opportunity. I will not recommend anything overpriced. If I put overpriced stuff here, it will be just to contrast it with the underpriced one. Can't go wrong recommending free stuff with significant value.
