It is at a time like this we need to remember the meaning of life. We are here not because we live long. We are here because our ancestors succesfully reproduced.
It’s much cheaper to produce new body rather than keep fixing the old one. So living things that’s around often have such a short life.
My cat will still live inside all it’s children. The thing is he doesn’t have children because my mom neutered it.
I hope God would accept my cat in heaven. However, many believes that God only accept homo sapiens that start evolving some 100k years ago. I am not sure which versions of homo sapiens start counting.
That there is hope when everything went pitch black. It helps people finding nearby and most natural solution, believing that God will help him anyway. That will improve reproductive success, properly align people’s action with the Nash equilibrium of those in power, and make more people believing. Understanding outperform faith, but only for the very smart.
Yea I got the same issue when a class implements 2 different interfaces and those 2 interfaces have the same property. Then one have to shadow the other.
I am just curious.
If we have
It seems to make sense to
have Class HornyRichMen inherits Horny, Rich, and Men.
I suppose VB.net classes tend to be more flat in hierarchy than C++ code. Even then in C++ most function are virtuals and you rewrite the code in the derived class. Most feature of inheritance can be replaced with just owning.
Manness as Man
Hornyness as Horny
Wealth as Rich
Then you run into issue that HornyRichMen cannot be plugged into function that accept Man argument.
But that’s where interface iMan, iHorny, and iRich comes in.
Now Let’s go to further sample.
Say we have
Dim Women as Object
Now, HornyRichMen has a method, called knock up.
Say Bob as HornyRichMen
Now Class HornyRichMen will just need to re implement all their parent classes method the way God designed real HornyRichMen.
But sometimes it’s crazy not to be crazy.
If someone told me that God ordered everyone to pay me $1 billion, it’s crazy for me not to believe. Yea could be true. Why not?
The only problem would be if people are not believing it. But still, say somehow they do, then there goes the only problem with faith.
For that same reason, people believe that God gave them right to beat others up, promised them some land, decide what the rest of us can watch, eat, believe, and mate with.
Why wouldn’t they believe? Why shouldn’t they?
It’s hard to say that you failed because you do the right thing. The right thing are things that lead to successful outcome.
Say someone put gun on your head. Say you know that you can kill him because you have a secret pen gun on your wallet. Yet you didn’t kill that robber. You can’t say you get robbed because you did the right thing. Not killing the robber is the wrong thing.
The same way if your country is unfair, you always have choice. You can leave the country, or you can join the corrupt ranks of the tyrant cronies. Either case you have a choice. We can explain to the mass that too much deviation from meritocratic free market rules is just going to mess us up.
We can tolerate some deviation. However, to a certain extend, once it goes to far, we should consider simply leaving to a more just country or simply take advantage of all the injustice the bad rules do.
Evil are often a necessary counter against another evil. Fairness are simply the right balance between those evil. We humans are the smartest species on this planet. There is nothing smarter beside us, except probably God that most likely will not interfere.
No body can fuck us up unless we first fuck our self up. – Sun Tzu (not exact quotation)
Perhaps the irony of all these greedy selfishness is that quite often the world become a better place not due to morale, but due to greedy selfish capitalistic bastards.
The most productive way to pursue wealth is through capitalism. Now all capitalists in the world will want ALL countries to be richer because the more countries are richer, the more choice all capitalists have.
When that work, wouldn’t that be a victory for freedom and capitalism over all others.
Remember, concentrate on what we want and what we can do and we’ll end up achieving much more.
Sometimes better ideas need a little magical push to turn them into reality. Imagine if there is no religion. Imagine if God (whether he’s real or just imaginary) didn’t tell that we shouldn’t kow tow to emperors (or party chairmen, or dear leaders or whatever). Till today we may have evolved down into gorillas like those commies.
Nowadays, those ideas are getting less and less thanks to science.
Most people judge something based on mistakes they make. I tend to see things based on surprisingly correct statement people make or inspire. These quotes are often the most embarrassing Christian verses. However, these are the one that I think were the most influential words for the world in general.
These are words, mere words, backed with no political power, said by a mere short lived engineer (or carpenter) that change the world more than any emperor and king ever did with all their army and influence.
So here they are:
1. Luke 22:25-27 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
This is the foundation of free market capitalism. The greatest among us are those who provide the best service to the most customers. Not those who tramples hapless others on their heel. Civilizations raise and fall based on how well they properly align people’s interest to their common interests.
2. Matthew 13:12 For whoever has, more will be given to him, and he will have more than enough. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
Foundation of business. Do your best to use chance God gives to you today because the more you have, the more you will have even more. Those who understand that we live in an abundance world and share the job profitably with those around them will be cash magnet that will attract more and more wealth. Those who do not understand will never see this truth and curse wealth for the whole of their life.
Morale: Our world tend to be self correcting, but most influential things work in positive feedback fashion. This one is also called Matthew’s effect in explaining why some outliers people earn all the money in any field. They somehow can concentrate all their talents at one point and build successes upon successes. Lose momentum and everything will crumble.
3. Matthew 21:21 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
Morale: This is the reason why tyrants and usurpers go the extra mile censoring our opinion and speech. This is why pens are mightier than the swords. When people believe something they bet on it, when they bet on it they count on it, when they count on it they make things happen. Hence, beliefs do change our reality big time. If you want to change the world, you do that by changing people’s beliefs starting from yours. From racism, monogamy, communism, facism, and religions. All have changed the world merely by changing our beliefs.
Often the mountain moves to the wrong sea, due to stupid faith. If women prefer the rich, how can there be any kid with poor dad? It’s because we under estimate women’s preference for the rich that we prohibit prostitution. All due to Christians’ stupid propaganda insisting that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, preference to reproduce, and wealth, produce the same number of kids. Beliefs change which Nash equilibrium that’s focal. Beliefs, mere beliefs, change the world more than any other.
All these doesn’t mean Jesus is God. Many of his words may just be mere regurgitation of common sense among politicians, like all religions are. However, it does mean that bible is written by really really smart guys.
The religion that I used to guide my life and business is Christianity. Christianity has a lot of great business advices. It’s also one of the religion that I consider “may” be true, along with Judaism. That religion inspire a lot of aspect of western civilizations.
The religion I used most to understand life is atheism. If somebody ask me why we have a lot of corruption, I am not going to use Christian’s theory that all government comes from God and God has a hidden purpose. I would say that lack of free market mechanism cause corruption predictably.
The religion I want to promote most in my country is Taoism. Taoism is the most pro market religion ever.
Maintain perception, or quite often, illusion of fairness, especially when you’re not.
Maintain beliefs favorable to you especially when it’s wrong.
Increase sells, especially if your offers are worthless.
Blame some other guy, especially when they’re innocent.
Getting rid competitors, especially when their offers are better.
Defend your self in the court of public opinion, especially when you’re evil.
Look very smart, especially when the question is way out of your knowledge space.
To look strong when you’re weak.
To look oppressed when you are oppressing others.
So no God is not death. Religion will be here for a very long time.
To think that religion is wrong is understandable. Say I am a perfectly rational being. Seeing all these benefits I too would “pretend” to be religious. Machiavelli would agree. Some people don’t like pretending so they believe their own non sense. Doesn’t seem like a bad strategy.
Of course, when religions are separate than politic, people would realize that they can no longer push people around just by believing crazy stuffs. The cost of believing crazy idea start outweighing the benefit and religions then go out of Denmark.
Then it would be a God we can understand.
